By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Adel_Awwad]Adel Awwad The history of slots began in 1895 when Charles Fey invented the slot machine. This machine consisted of three reels, each having ten playing cards for symbols. He further revolutionized the history of slots in 1907 with the Liberty Bell, a heavy cast iron machine, with an ornate case, toes, feet, and a bell. The basic design of this slot machine and its familiar bell is the predecessor to todays slots and holds a permanent place in the history of slots. In 1910, the history of slots moved forward when Charles Fey and the Mills Novelty Company introduced the Operator Bell. This slot machine featured the widely recognized fruit symbols, which replaced the original playing cards. The history of slots continued with the introduction of a quieter machine, the Silent Bell and a double jackpot. The period of cast iron in the history of slots ended in 1915 with wood cabinets replacing many of the heavier and bulkier machines. More changes came along in the history of slots with the concept of new and colorful cabinet designs. The first of these thematic innovations was the Lion Head in 1931, and then came the War Eagle and the Roman Head, and in 1933, it was the Castle Front. As slots became more and more attractive, more and more players were lured to them. In the early 1930s, the Mills Company decided to make slots even more memorable by introducing a series of colorful and striking cabinet designs, each with its own theme. The first in early 1931 was the Lion Head. In late 1931, it was the War Eagle and the Roman Head, and in 1933, it was the Castle Front. Another innovation came along in the history of slots in the mid-1900s, with the introduction of Big Bertha and Super Big Bertha, the first slots driven by a machine. These slots had eight reels, with 20 symbols on each. The history of slots surged further ahead in the mid-1940s when playing the slots took on added appeal. These were the days of big spenders and gangsters; when Bugsy Siegel first brought them to the Flamingo Hotel, the casinos were filled with noise and excitement. Slots require no special knowledge or experience; they are simple and fun to play. The history of slots has now evolved to include the Internet, but the flashing lights and the ringing bells will always be the real fascination of slots. How To Use Newsletters To Build Customer Relationships
By Joe Love We are living today in the Information Age where success and achievement depend on, not who you know, but how much you know. People today dont want to be sold. They want information that will help achieve success in their personal and business life. People want and need information about their industry, competition, and new products and services. Studies show that one of main reasons why customers stop buying from a particular business is because of a lack of communication on the part of the business. Communication is a key to building relationships and keeping customers satisfied. It is how you keep your prospects and customers constantly informed about new products and services. One of the best ways to communicate news and information to your prospects and customers is with a newsletter. Newsletters improve awareness with your target market and help build your relationship with those who read it. It gives you a competitive advantage, which makes it more likely that your readers will buy from you. Newsletters provide an opportunity to inform your prospects and customers of your opinions, facts, and ideas on a wide variety of matters. Engaging your prospect and customers in this type of dialogue will not only lead to more sales, but more referrals as well. Newsletters only work when they are distributed to your prospects and customers on a regular and consistent basis. If you are publishing your newsletter offline, mail it monthly or bi-monthly, but no less than six times a year. If youre publishing an ezine or an online newsletter, distribute it weekly or by-weekly, but no less than monthly. Your newsletter should be easy to read, contain valuable information, and look nice. Your goal is to have your prospects and customers expect and look forward to receiving every issue of your newsletter before you even publish it. It is important that your make your newsletter interesting and valuable enough that your prospects and customers read all of it. You want to provide a great return on your readers investment of time. In order to do this, you need to know what type of information your prospects and customers need. When you get new subscribers, ask them why they subscribed to your newsletter. Find out what type of information they need. Do they learn from stories and case studies or step-by-step bulleted lists? Asking them these questions will not only enable you to give them the information they are looking for in each issue, it also shows them that you care. The name of your newsletter and front page are very important. Make the newsletters name memorable and unique. Something that will grab the readers attention and make them remember your identity. The front page needs to be well designed, appealing, and hard-hitting to entice people to keep reading. You should design your articles to inform, educate, and answer your readers most frequently asked questions. Give them free and helpful tips about your products and services. Free tips position you as an expert in the industry and show your willingness to help others. Once your readers are helped by these tips, they are more likely to read more information, and contact you directly for help or to buy from you. Keep your newsletters short. If you are printing and distributing your newsletter offline then it should be no more than four pages. If you are publishing an ezine or online newsletter you should try to keep it to one page, but no more than two. Use short stories, bulleted information, lists, and other forms of concise information. Because readers have a short attention span, the information should be presented in a very positive light and humorous fashion. Be careful to keep your humor professional, not amateurish. Stick to the purpose of your newsletter, which is to get prospects and customers to buy from you. Stay focused on the specific interests of your prospects and customers. If you are going to have advertising in your newsletter make sure the ads pertain to your industry. You want the ads to be for products and services you would recommend for your prospects and customers to use. Any selling should be done subtly, with your readers interests at heart. The last thing you want is to have in-your-face selling to your prospects and customers. This defeats the whole purpose of the newsletter. Graphics always add to the appeal of a newsletter. You should include graphics, such as charts, cartoons, illustrations, and sidebars. Always put your photo in the newsletter because it can really help to start and maintain relationships. Newsletters are a very powerful marketing tool. Here are just a few of the ways you can use newsletters: Use newsletters as a direct-mail piece to your prospects and customers Have your salespeople hand them out when they make sales calls. Hand them out at trade shows. Include newsletters in your information and media kits. Give them out to prospects and customers who come into your place of business. Post newsletters on your web site. Use free subscription to your newsletter on your web site to capture names of prospects. Newsletters are primarily to give information, but they are also a marketing tool to help you get new customers, make sales, and get referrals. The key to successful newsletter publishing is to always remember to give important news, make them reliable, and have fun. Texas Hold'em Poker Cash Game Strategy - Thin Value Bets
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Napoleon_Will]Napoleon Will At the higher stakes of poker, you have to find as many edges over your opponents as possible. Many times you will have a weak pair on the river after your opponent has checked. The board might be very dangerous where your opponent could possibly have a flush. After playing many hands with this opponent, you are almost certain that he has an even weaker pair. A decent player would simply check in this position to avoid the possibility that his opponent has a monster hand. A world-class player would make a thin value bet in this situation. A thin value bet is a bet made to extract maximum value from a hand. It is thin since you are only marginally ahead of your opponent. It takes a lot of trust in your reading ability to make these thin value bets. If you know how to make thin value bets, you will make a fortune in the long run. It may take some experience at the tables and some courage to make this play. Force yourself to make thin value bets and you will develop a feel for the proper situations. At first you will be very hesitant to make a river bet with marginal holdings but it is only temporary. Continue to work on your game making thin value bets whenever the situation calls for it. At the higher stakes of poker, it is these marginal edges that will make you a winner in the long run. No one is making very big mistakes in these higher limit games. Take your time when deciding on each and every decision. Automatically checking may be costing you a lot of money in the long run. Think about thin value betting and your game will improve dramatically. Napoleon Will is a self-published author and semi-professional poker player. Learn To Play Online Poker Tournaments Like The Pros - Strategies And Poker Playing Tips
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Tim_Gorman]Tim Gorman The exciting world of online poker is filled with many world-class players that have developed the necessary skill sets and strategies to compete at a professional level in online Texas Hold'em. These strategies and online poker playing techniques allow them to gain an advantage over their opponents in order to leverage their skills into a winning hand. The winning strategies used by these players are outlined below and if followed properly will help you increase your online poker winnings. Winning Online Poker Strategies The popular winning online poker strategies are broken down into two different styles of play. One style is involves playing extremely aggressively by being rather active in every hand and involves seeing lots of flops. The other style of play is a stark contrast to the aggressive player and is basically a more conservative method that relies on avoiding confrontation and focusing on selective play by working only with opening hands that have a high percentage of winning. In the early or opening stages of a poker game or tournament a player will generally choose either the conservative or aggressive style of play. A typical poker table consists of either 9 or 10 players. In most cases these players may all start out aggressively because the natural tendency when playing online poker is to adapt a more aggressive playing style instead of the conservative non-confrontational approach. The reason many of today's online poker players take this aggressive strategy is so that they can accumulate a large amount of chips quickly at the beginning of the tournament or poker game so that they can play conservative during the middle part of the tournament when the field clears itself thus saving their chips and aggressive style for the end of the game, especially when they make it to the final table. Fortunately, a smart online poker player can use this aggressive play to their advantage. The strategy that can be used involves what's known as a continuation bet where they turn the tables and win a couple of hands pushing them closer to the winning pot. A continuation bet is an older online poker tournament strategy where a bet is made after a flop in online poker games or tournaments. Generally, the player will initiate a raise on a hand during the poker tournament or game, which then allows him or her to gain control of the game. The reality is when a player takes control of a hand combined with a position at the table it will usually make the other players check to the raise. As the play continues for that particular poker hand the other players will have no idea if the controlling player holds a power card, monster hand or nothing. At the end of the last card hand the controlling player will lay out his or her bet leaving the remaining players with the difficult dilemma and trouble in their decision to call, fold or raise. This is especially true if the continuation bet is high enough. For an aggressive player this truly is a quandary because their playing style requires them to push forward in order to initially gain enough chips so that they can coast through the middle rounds and make the final table. In the event an aggressive online poker player is faced with someone playing an online poker strategy using a continuation bet the aggressive player must calculate the chances of holding the winning hand when play has concluded. The other online poker playing strategy that I used by some players is the passive style of playing poker. This type of player prefers to avoid confrontations by being patient and letting the other poker players in the tournament knock themselves out. This strategy is much like a hunter or vulture who patiently waits for their opponents to make a wrong move before pouncing on them by revealing monster hands. Players using this style of online poker play have a slight edge because it provides them an opportunity watch their opponents throughout the poker tournament. This observation allows the conservative player the opportunity to analyze the betting patterns of the other online poker players throughout the [http://www.winningonlinepokertips.com/]online poker tournament. This allows for the opportunity to devise a plan in order to counter the aggressive strategies used by the other poker players in the tournament with the hopes of reaching the final table and place in the money. No matter what strategy you choose to employ during an online poker game it's important to have a flexible style of play, especially during the opening rounds of any online poker tournament. The ability to do so will mean the difference between finishing out of the money or making the final table and cashing in. Hooked on Cyber Sex
By Ed Howes As I write this I have only been online three months. It has been a steep learning curve indeed. I don't know near enough about computers, the internet, and cyber sex. But I want to know more and have learned how to know more about all these things. I caved in to the cyber sex invitation about ten weeks ago, fascinated as much by the marketing as the product. Marketers just kept knocking on my door and continue to do so nearly every day. Persistence pays. In the past ten weeks I posted personal profiles on five dating and hook - up websites. None had my photo until last week, when a friend Emailed me a dozen she had taken a while back. The first site I posted on drew three responses to my profile within two days. A good sign. Two more the next three days. I could not tell much from the posted photos but the profiles were intriguing and I wanted to talk to each of the five women. But to do so, I had to pay. I scraped up the money for a six month subscription, mailed it off to headquarters and the company claims they never received it. I pulled my profile and never went back. Money down the drain. But I was not ready to quit. Another website on which I posted a profile yielded over twenty responses in just three weeks. But unpaid members on this site can't even view the profiles of those who contact them, let alone respond. So my quest became to find which service offered the most contact benefits to non paying members. One allowed the viewing of all member profiles but only pre written flirt contacts. No personal messages without paid upgrade. Another allowed very limited profile views and limited contact, including on site E mails in a few conditions. It took a few weeks just to become vaguely familiar with Adult Friend Finders' many features, rules and conditions but I am now quite passionate about this site. It offers tons of interactivity to its unpaid or standard members. This sets it apart from the others in its marketing strategy and member benefits. They have a magazine for members to read and contribute articles, if they choose. They have a database of over 35,000 erotic articles contributed by mostly amateur member writers. I expected the stories to be very different depending whether the author was male or female and instead, from early reading, have found more similarity than difference. What began for me as a concession to lust has become both an education and a personal growth process. They also have a member driven advice column (in fact the entire site is member driven) in which all subjects are fair game and most relate to sex. One member poses a question. Other members can vote on the question itself, and/or post a response. Members can also vote on every response. It's like reading Sex Dear Abby and the members are Abby. If you aren't entertained by the reading alone, there might be something wrong with you. The education and personal growth aspects begin when you feel a strong affinity with the people who are exposing their selves, desires and fantasies to judgement and criticizm and decide to join them by filling out a personal profile. The questions vary from site to site but all offer both mandatory responses and optional. This is where the personal growth process begins. Honestly completing the profile helps you to see who you really are. Far too many of us really don't want to know and remain strangers even to those we love. The optional questions are harder. Now we find out how much of who we are we will reveal to those who might want to know. Is this question too personal to answer? If so, I will pass and the profile reader will know what I consider too personal to answer publicly. The great challenge for most is two essay questions: basically, who do I think I am and what do I think I want in a friend, date, sex buddy, lover, life partner. All sites I posted on allow you to think this over and change your profile after your initial post because they know you will soon wish you said this instead of that. To answer these two questions for one's self is liberating and growth promoting. For instance; what do I wish I could honestly say about myself? What would it take to make it true? So we enter a virtual meat market, hot to trot and soon see there is an emotional, mental and spiritual component below the surface appearance of things. This too is liberating. Because we use made up names, we have some anonymity if our photos do not show our faces and I would say about eighty or ninety percent do not. That very anonymity helps us to be more honest because we expect we will eventually meet people who will compare what they know of us prior to meeting, with what they know after the meeting. If you are not reaonably close to what you claim, you tell the other person you are not to be trusted and there can be no foundation to any kind of relationship at all, including a one night stand for those so inclined. All the sites show due concern for personal safety and self protection that goes well beyond safe sex. This truly matters. One is exposed to weirdos and con artists of every stripe, perhaps more so with the under thirty crowd of the inexperienced, but age is no guarantee. Us dirty old men will turn up too. I had a pleasant conversation with a young female fellow club member this morning, who has had a dozen positive meetings. But one dirty old man from a hundred miles away wished to purchase a long term and devoted companion. He harrassed her by phone and Email for a few weeks after their meeting and gave up. To do this thing, it is useful to have better than average intuition. I am convinced an overwhelming majority of the members do or they would not be advertising their desires and fantasies to the world. Hence, there is a group or collective consciousness within this virtual community quite apart from that of Joe Six Pack America and Joe has no desire to be there. At least, not for long. It requires time. It requires patience. Though many personal ads proclaim: "this is what I want and I want it now", the reality is; how badly do you really want anything? Can you shift from the fear based society of the past to the love based society of the future? Because this is what is happening in the cyber sex community, even if most of the community does not quite see it. I do. It's real. In fact, on line hook up is dirt cheap in the dollar costs of the possible benefits, but if time is money, members are spending fortunes. I have now spent hundreds of hours just familiarizing myself with a few web sites and participating on one. The time situation struck me hard in my imagination on my first hook up site. I have lots of free time in which I usually write and publish to share the things I learn with others who do not have the time but to read an article now and then. It is a personal act of giving I have fully committed to. But what if I wound up dating or visiting all five of the women who first responded to my profile? Add the time I would spend on them to the time I would spend to replace them if desired and I would do very little writing. So before you decide to dip your toe in the great cyber sex ocean, ask yourself how much time can you devote to meeting people, corresponding, chatting, making friends, choosing sex buddies, lovers, playmates and partners - and just learning how it all works. How fast do you want any of this to happen? It's your time (I hope) but I have yet to regret any hour I have so far spent. I am unabashedly excited. Cyber sex is the greatest thing since the internet! It is truly transformational whether you are just an observer or a participant. (PUBLISHERS! Free Promotion Here - Now! What Anybody Interested In Sports Betting Needs To Know About The NFL AFC North
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=D._James]D. James If you are at all interest in Sports Betting then you must know what's going on with the AFC North. In the 2006 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers won the Super Bowl behind a staunch defense, a time-consuming ground attack, and the steady play of young, Ben Roethlisberger. Coming from the Wild Card position of the AFC North, the Steelers overcame the odds by defeating the Indianapolis Colts (who steamrolled through the regular season, amassing a League-best 14-2 record) and the New England Patriots (winners of 3 Super Bowls with Bill Belichek and Tom Brady). The road will only be more difficult this season, with the departures of Jerome Bettis (Retirement), Antwaan Randle El, Chris Hope and Kimo von Oelhoffen (all Free Agency). Additionally, the Steelers spent the off-season dealing with Roethlisbergers motorcycle accident, which required lengthy surgeries, but should not affect the start of the start of the 2006 campaign. The addition of rookie wideout Santonio Holmes should help keep the double teams off of superstar, Hines Ward. Although the Conferences best defense returns 9 starters, the big question remains Roethlisbergers health and inactivity during the summer. Behind Coach Bill Cowher, the Steelers are 7-1 favorites to repeat as champions this season. The Cincinnati Bengals finally erased fifteen years of disappointment by posting an 11-5 record, and capturing the AFC North division title. Led by the dynamic aerial assault of Carson Palmer (QB) and three young, talented wide receivers (Chad Johnson, T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Chris Henry), and the steady running of Rudi Johnson, the Bengals were usually able to overcome a shaky defense and outscore most opponents. However, the playoff excitement quickly came to an end when Carson Palmer went down with a knee injury in the first quarter of their opening playoff game against the rival Steelers. Although veteran, Jon Kitna had served the Bengals well as a backup quarterback and part-time starter, his off-season departure to Detroit has left Bengal fans nervous about the long-term effects of Palmers injury. However, the additions of free agents Sam Adams (DT) and Dexter Jackson (S), and the continued development of second-year standouts David Pollack (LB) Odell Thurman (LB), should mean that opposing offenses will have a greater challenge in putting points on the board. Coach Marvin Lewis has built a winner in Cincinnati by a my way or the highway approach, and by getting the players to believe in themselves. Vegas odds makers are also starting to believe, as well, giving them a 16-1 shot at winning it all. The enigma by the Harbor that is Brian Billick, Ray Lewis and the Baltimore Ravens, limped through the 2005 season to a 6-10 record, and third place finish in the division. Most of the members of the legendary 2000 team that won Super Bowl XXXV have retired or moved on to bigger paydays, and general manager, Ozzie Newsome, has largely been left paying for the financial sins of building a champion. In addition to McNair, the Ravens also signed Mike Anderson (RB), Trevor Pryce (DE) and drafted Haloti Ngata (DT) to offset the losses of Maake Kemoeatu and Anthony Weaver. A key question mark is going to be how previously dependable running back Jamaal Lewis bounces back from a disappointing 2005 season, marred by injury and legal problems. Not much is expected from the 2006 version of the Ravens, but the acquisition of Titans quarterback, Steve McNair, and the healthy returns of Lewis (LB) and Ed Reed (S), at least give the Ravens a punchers chance. But Vegas thinks the punch is pretty weak (odds: 42-1) Its hard to say how disappointing the Cleveland Browns 6-10 season of a year ago was. For Browns players and fans, of course it was agonizing, but considering no one outside the Cuyahoga expected much from this undersized and out-manned squad, it may have actually been a step forward. Additionally, the organization decided to take its lumps in 2005 by releasing overpriced and under performing veterans. The payoff was a lot of cap space in the off-season, and the Browns brought in impact free agents Ted Washington (DT), Willie McGinest (DT), LeCharles Bentley (C) and Joe Jurevicius (WR). Surprise performers were found in Charlie Frye (QB) and Reuben Droughns (RB), and a finally healthy Kellen Winslow (TE) should help in the offensive improvement, but off-season knee surgery to Braylon Edwards (WR) could impact the vertical game. The Browns are probably still a year or two away from being a threat in the AFC, but they do have the talent and attitude to upset some teams this season. (Vegas odds: 50-1) David James is one of the world's foremost sports handicappers. Career Advice for Your Midlife Crisis: 7 Tips
By Cathy Goodwin Youve enjoyed your career for the past twenty years maybe more. And now youre
wondering: Maybe its time to switch gears. A whole new career. Work at home.
Retire. Or maybe youre forced to revise your career due to layoffs or transfers. (1) Expect midlife career change to be easier than entering the world of employment
for the first time. Most likely you enjoy a financial cushion: savings, home equity, and a retirement
fund. You also have demonstrated skills and experience. If youre employed, your
company probably offers resources for developing new skills and managing the

identity way beyond skills and values. . When you introduce yourself as, Heres
what I do... you are also saying, Heres who I am. (3) Expect to change your appearance as you change careers. Sadly, many individuals and organizations really do judge a book by its cover.
Clients who want to start a business often are surprised by the increased need to

to stay home and work in sweats or shorts and, for women, say good-by to high
heels and pantyhose forever. (4) Recognize that career change often requires a geographic move. Lets face it: Some places are just better for some careers. Your cost of living may be
lower in a small city, but your opportunities to network will be limited. On the other
hand, the lower cost of living may allow you to experiment with riskier ventures. Often your own business doesnt depend on geography. Examples include Internet
businesses, mail order shipment, and free lance writing. But you may need to keep
on top of mainstream trends and where you live can influence your credibility. (5) Expect to change your roles in all aspects of your life. Family and community will view you differently. Some community groups assign You

you to be available on certain weekdays. (6) Plan for a new social support system. Lunch with coworkers. Drinks after work. Dinner with old friends on Friday night.
You dont realize how much you enjoyed this support until its gone. Friendships change. When you leave a career, former colleagues can regard you
with envy or suspicion. They wont understand your new world and the new
